Easy Lasagna

Ingredients
  

Cheese Filling

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese 2 Cups
  • 1 Lg Egg
  • 2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese
  • ¾ Cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
  • 2 Tsp Italian Seasoning Or use fresh spices & herbs
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • ¼ Tsp Pepper

Meat Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Large Yellow Onion chopped
  • 1 lb Ground beef optional
  • 3/4 Lb Ground italian sausage Or just sliced (chicken) italian sausage
  • 3 Cloves Garlic Minced
  • ½ Cup Chicken Broth
  • 40 Oz Marinara sauce You can make it or just use Rao's
  • 1 Tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 Tsp Hot sauce Tabasco works well
  • 1 Tsp Worcestershire sauce optional

Lasagna Noodles/Cheese Topping

  • 12 Lg Lasagna Noodles 1 package is plenty
  • 2.5 Cups Mozzarella cheese You really don't need this much cheese…

Instructions
 

Prep Work

  • Combine cheese filling ingredients in a bowl and set aside

Meat Sauce

  • Saute onions in the olive oil, add garlic last minute and add remaining spices
  • Cook meats, beef if using and sausage. Drain excess grease..
  • Combine onion, meats, and chicken broth
  • Add marinara, tomato paste, hot sauce and Worcestershire and bring to a boil
  • Let simmer while you cook the lasagna noodles

Cook Lasagna Noodles

  • Preheat Oven to 375 while you cook the lasagna noodles al dente in salt water

Final Assembly

  • Spread meat sauce on bottom of pan (9 x 13 or slightly larger) and cover with 4 lasagna noodles
  • Spread ⅓ of the cheese mixture over the noodles followed by about 1 ½ Cups of meat sauce
  • Add two more layers with noodles, cheese, and meat sauce
  • Top with mozzarella cheese
  • Spray foil with pam, and place it over the pan to keep the cheese from sticking to it
  • Bake for 35 minutes, remove foil cover and bake another 10 minutes
